Harold and Orinda began eerving the eeniora of thia area in 1979 when they helped organize the Duchesne Senior Center. The Gees have remained active members, and in 1981 they organised the Bingo Club to help provide additional entertainment and social opportunities for their peers. In addition, Harold and Orinda spend at least one day each week viating the rest home, hospitals and shut-in- s in the community. This much needed service has helped brighten the days of many of the areas lonely seniors who need this outside love and support "Harold and Orinda are a vital part of the community," said Governor Leavitt "and we want them to know they are appreciated." Sixty-fiv- e of the exhibits wen chosen for the state fair. Among the special awards given there were Jr. Wilton Awards given to Jedadiah Curry and Christine Pratt. Ball Awards wen given to Jennifer Allen, Erin Allen, Christine Pratt and Janae VanTasaell. A plaque for the outstanding family was awarded to the Kenneth Farnsworth family for their total participation in demonstrations, Exhibits and fashion revue. The outstanding leader award plaque was awarded to Bonnie Duncan for outstanding club work and supporting the most programs. The outstanding award went to Karletta Brady. She entered many exhibits, three of which are going to the state fair. Karlet-ta- s piano solo also won overall talent award in the junior talent contest. The Carter family was recognized for having grand champion, reserve champion and third place steer. The winner of the Crazy Critter Contest was Sheldon Kargis, whose winning entry of "Yosemite 8am" earned him $15.00. Second place went to Valerie Montague who received $10.00. Third place went to Jared Bruton who received Leonard Ferguson receives PICTURE PRESENTATION-May- or a picture of Janell Earl, Miss UBIC 1993, presented to the city by Miss Earl to adorn the walls of the Roosevelt City Building. $5.00. There were 52 partiapants in the junior contests which wars held August 10. Tracina Casper, an member, was the overall winner in modeling and interview. Other winners were as follows: Phase 1 - Chey Lynn Hill; Phase 2 Tradna Casper; Phase 3 - Nancy Nebeker; and Phase 4 Tina Clayburn. Dairy Demonstrations winners were as follows: Junior-Fir- st Jana Taylor, second - Jaliae Hinton; and third Tradna Casper. Intermediate-First Shayla Allred; second Moneesh Miller; and third - Clay Park. Demonstrations winners were: First - Shallin Duncan; second - Melody Park; and third Russell Mortensen. Talent winners were: Piano-Fi- rst Karletta Bnufy; second - Megan Farnsworth; and third Annica VanTasaell. The junior piano winner was Lori Ann Bruton. Instrumental winners were Joah and Jordan Dye. Vocal winners were: First - Tra Lynn Timothy; second - Tina Clayburn; and third Nicole Killian. Variety winner were: First Will Nebeker; second - Jennifer and Erin Allen; and third Ashley Cooper and Heather Muir. Public Speaking overall winner was Jana Taylor. Horse Public Speaking winner was Micah Park. Agriculture Public Speaking winner was Jana Taylor, and Public Speaking winner was Clay Park. The Fashion Revue, "Rainbow of Fashions," was held at the Duchesne Stake Center August 17 with 38 partidpants. They were given the award for their total participation in demons tra-tions, exhibits and the fashion revue at the Duchesne County Fair. During the county fair most people know about the market livestock show, but did you know there was a showmanship contest where the exhibitor is judged on their ability to present their animal to the judge. The exhibitor has to know when to move to give the judge the best view of the animal and set the animal up so it looks its very best. This year each spedes had a contest with the exhibitors divided into age groups. The top six individuals in each age group are recognized with a rosette, and the top two individuals compete for the titie of Grand Master and Reserve Grand Master Showman in their livestock division and receivs a jacket donated by supporters of the showmanship contest In the Beef division there were 37 individuals, with the top honors going to Jaycen Ostler, Grand Master, and Courtney Walker, Reserve Master. Jacket sponsors were Bench Mark Angus, McCon-ki- e Ranch; Chad and Gina Stevenson and Walker Angus. In the sheep division 75 participated in the event, with Cody Long receiving Grand Master and Whitney Farnsworth receiving Reserve Master. Jackets were donated by Chirpy Club Lambs, Vernal. County Fair Breeding Livestock Winners The grand champion bull waa exhibited by Courtney Walker, and the reserve champion bull was exhibited by Richard Gomafay. In the Female division the grqnd champion was exhibited by Country Walker, and the reserve champion by Clint Stevenson. The breeds shown included angus, pedmantoise, palled hereford, limousin, simmental and chi-cros- s. In the breeding sheep, Ram division, the grand champion went to Page Fleldsted and reserve champion to Sammie Fieldsted. In the Ewe division the grand duunpion was won by Tina Clayburn, and the reserve champion was won by Devon Clayburn. In the Dairy division the grand champion dairy dam went to Jana Hartle and the reserve champion to i Williams.
