| Show GIRL WONT TAKE darl fylakes PARACHUTE LEAR inexperienced young lady horrifies friends by going tip in balloon lands in safety middletown N Y rather than take a dare miss margaret dailey aged 20 of middletown made a bal loon ascension and parachute leap at midway park a summer resort near here it was the first time the young woman had ever been higher than the YOUNG WOMAN PELL STREAK OF LIGHTNING top ot the tallest office building in middletown she knew absolutely nothing of ballooning or the manage ment ot a parachute her borror stricken friends watched her cut loose from the balloon thou sands of feet in the air she dropped I 1 with the parachute and landed about two miles and a half from her starting point uninjured but unnerved with several companions at tho park ohp stood near the balloon while it was being inflated suddenly miss dally took her position on the drapeza and told the helpers to cast off tha balloon sailed swiftly upward with kelly the aeronaut sitting on tha trapeze there was a gasp from every one the crowd below expected every moment that miss dalley would tall but she clung tenaciously to the trapeze when she had ascended nearly shioo feet the parachute was seen to drop the young woman fell like a streak 0 lightning then the para chatey opened and miss dalley suspended from the trapeze floated gently downward she was found by her friends much frightened by her experience but also elated at the successful outcome of her first balloon ascension she said that she enjoyed the trip to the clouds immensely and after descending the first few hundred feet she got over her fear and only wished to go higher when she cut loose from the balloon the rapid drop toward earth took away her breath but when the parachute opened she enjoyed the sensa lion 4 |
