thompson for school trustee large vote polled at the 1 election held on monday afternoon it has been many years since a school election in eureka brought voters out but that is what happened on monday afternoon when a trustee for the three ye ir term was elected pur to a call issued by the chairmen of the three political parties a non partisan convention was held on bat arday evening at which time D J russell and W thompson were loth nominated the nominating con bention attracted in the neighborhood of people and showed that the elec tion which was to follow upon mon day would be a warm one when this election roald around the friends of each of the candidates were out in large numbers and there was some tall hustling throughout the afternoon both mr russell and mr thompson are very popular and it was about toss up as to who would win but when the votes were counted it was found that the former had re 23 2 3 otes while the litter received ato it la certainly gratifying to see the people of take an interest in the welfare of the public schools several times in past when there have been elections of this kind it was almost an impossibility to get out a representative e ote after the ballots had been counted on mandzy the trus tees submitted their annual report which was accepted james white head then made a motion that each 0 the three trustees be doted for the year s work robert adamson oner ed an that this amount be 75 instead of the amend ment was ut to a vote an i was lost while the original motion was carried and the compensation of the trustees remained the same as in years
