The Union High School rebounded from an ill flight of basketball play in a loss to Uintah, Wednesday, January 6 with victories over and Grand Carbon, Friday, to cure Junction, Saturday, them of hoop game depression. Union now has a 4 record and is 1 in region play. The Cougars minds were still on the game with Uintah as Carbon jumped out to a 0 lead in the first quarter in Price. However, Union annihilated the Dinosaurs and almost forced them into basketball extinction when , they outscored the Carbon crew, 23-- in the second quarter for a halftime advantage of Guy Coleman burned the coal to the hoop and Tyson Hancock put in baskets to hand the Cougars a 3 lead after three quarters. Coleman, Hancock and the rest of the Cougars rode the that break express to the basket for 21 points in the final quarter to win the game with Carbirn by 13 prints. BATTLE-Uni- on ; Lady Cougars, Longhorns pocket basketball triumphs By Aldon Rachele The basketball season hai been a learning experience for the Union High School Lady Cougars, which has resulted in more losses than wins, but the Roosevelt bunch had a happy hoop rematch with the Longhorns in Altamont due to a 6 triumph, Tuesday, January $5. Altamont.' rebounded from the lose to Union with a victory over the East Carbon Lady Vildngs. Union jumped out to a lead in the first quarter behind wane key steals by Kristina Osborne that sparked the Cougar team. The squad hit a high percentage of its field goals to take charge in the ball game. The Cougars continued to pour in the points with 15 in the second for a 6 advantage. Altamont pumped in 13, but Union tossed in 19 to take a 9 advantage after three quarters. The Lady Longhorns outscored the in the fourth Cougars, quarter, but Union won its second game of the year by 16 points. The Cougars other win was also against the Lady Longhorns.
