Uintah Special Meridian PUBLIC NOTICE DECISION MEMO Change of Sheep to Cattle on the Lake Basin Allotment After review of the proposed livestock class change from sheep to cattle on the Lake Basin Allotment, it is my decision as the Duchesne District Ranger tochange the class of livestock from sheep to cattle. The permit is gener- ally surrounded by or portions of the North Fork drainage above Hanna, Blind Stream, Log Hollow, South Fork Head Rock Crcck.Swift Creek, and Squaw Creek. A map and legal description is at the Duchesne Ranger District. Currently the permit allows 1200 head of sheep that graze from June 16 to October 20. The livestock class change will allow 85 cowcalf pairs from June 16 to October IS. The conversion will be a trial basis for three years to firm up carrying capacity, range improvements that are necessary, and environmental analysis. This decision is appealable in accordance with Secretary of Agriculture Appeal Regulations 36CFR2 1 7. A written notice of appeal (2 copies) must be filed to Duane G.
