One of the widely read portions of the paper is the community correspondents. They help provide the community flavor to Basin. We are not asking for reporters either. What is needed is someone with a degree of curiosity, some writing ability, and the time to put into it. To gather news, even the community happenings from a correspondent, takes time, patience.and willingness. But our eyes and ears have been hampered in some areas over the recent years. We need people in Randlett, Ballard, Myton, Utahn and Fruitland (just to mention a few) to become community corjob respondents. What other part-tim- e could pay out to find out what is going on in your community? The correspondents in Roosevelt, Arcadia, Hanna, AAontwell, Tabiona, Tridell, Whiterocks and Duchesne are sincerely appreciated for providing news on a regular basis for the readers in the ed ur (722-5131- ). There is still an awful lot of news going on in the Basiri that we have missed because of lack of staff or just not knowing about it. Community correspondents could also help provide some of the tips, for which they receive credit, but residents providing tips are extremely useful as well. So, anyone interested in becoming a community correspondent on a part-tim- e basis should call or write to us at the Uintah Basin STANDARD, Post Office Box 307, Roosevelt, Utah 84066. On December 23, we were en route to Salt Lake City and vicinity to spend Christmas with our family. Upon arriving in Duchesne, we discovered that the tarp, which had covered gifts and other items in the truck, had become disengaged and blown off. This was an inconvenience, but my husband assured me that everything else was intact. We did need a protective cover, however, so decided to drive back up the road to see if we could be lucky enough to find it. Not being successful we drove all the way back to our home in Altonah, where we obtained another covering, tied it more securely, and resumed our journey. Not until we stopped at our the home first delivery pnint--a- t of our daughter and six children-d- id we realize that not only had the tarp gone, but also the box containing all the Christmas gifts for this family.
