Show Church News Utah to give medal for Valor Myton Presbyterian Church Mr. John Hewes led the morning worship on Sunday, October 31. At the conclusion of the Call to Worship, the congregation joined in unison to repeat the Invocation and the Lord's Prayer. The mornings scripture readings woe from Exodus 34:29-3and II The title of the Corinthians 3:7-1sermon was When Life Caves In." John summarized the sermon by saying that just as we mature in body and mind, so we must mature in spirit. We were encouraged to remember that the Lord is there for us at all times. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the means and the end to our journey. The congregation was thrilled to have both Florence and Milt Lott in attendance at the worship service and we all pray that they will have even better days ahead as Florences health improves even more. A potluck sandwich and dessert lunch was held following the service and a similar potluck will be held next Sunday also. John will be out to lead the service again. Everyone is invited to attend. Members of the Session will meet at the church Tuesday, November 2, at 7 p.m. to conduct church business. A warm and newsy letter to the congregation was received from Margot Adams and Rhidian Thomas. It will be posted on the bulletin board so you may read it in its entirety. Thanks go to Miss Sally Myton of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for the following article about Mytons namesake, H.P. Myton. The article is from an Ellis Idaho, Bulletin, February, 1938, and is entitled, Major H.P. Wright One day a fire broke out in one of the saloon dance halls. We did not have a water system, so the bucket brigade got busy. The preacher joined the gamblers and prostitutes in carrying water to put out the fire, while his wife was on her knees, in the open doorway of their house, praying that the joint would bum down. Her prayers were not answered, and the place was saved. That night, when the dancing was resumed, and after all had promenaded to bar many times, one of the girls they called Dolly Varden, took up a collection to buy the minister a new suit. When the United States adopted the standard time, Dodge City was the dividing line between Central and Mountain time. The Emporia Gazette said, Dodge City has three kinds of time; Central, Mountain and a hell of a time. And that reminds us, Major, of the Westerner who took his son to the little red school house on the hill; My boy's after some lamin. What have you got?
