Our elected officials have a great deal of power, and they are expected to wield that power; for the benefit of the people! These elected representatives have power, but they must never forget who granted them that power, nor should they forget how quickly it can be stripped from their grasp. We have elected these individuals in good faith, based on what they have told us during the campaign. We are not expecting every elected candidate to successfully complete every plan he or she had entering office. There are many circumstances which make this impossible. However, the voting public of the Uintah Basin expects these individuals to Tuesday's election a vital decision was reached by voters. We have selected those individuals to represent us for the next years. For those not elected, the fast pace of the campaign is a thing of the past. For those elected, the work is just beginWith two-to-fo- ur ning! . . , and often cajoled into vbtingjSreat emphasis is placed on the importance of the vote and the responsibility placed upon the voter. For months Uintah Basin Residents have heard proposals for action, suggestions for changes, and even promises.-Because of these statements by candidates they have been elected or defeated.1 We must now ask whether these individuals will perform as they have said, or have voters once again been misled by "smooth talking The voters . try. They have been elected to positions 'which require a great deal of work; positions which are vital to our very existence.
