Show r I Thursday, July 16, 1981 Uintah Bag in Stai. Missionary Fellowship plans cult discussion Hundred of people, dead at their own hands. A dynamic, egocentric religious leader. A sacred sanctuary, deliberately remote. Less than two years ago, the tragic facts of Jonestown burst upon a stunned world. Could it happen again? Could it happen here? Has it happened before, and could it be that we didnt learn from the history of that former event? Ia there any group-- or groups-i- n existence today that snow the tell-tal- e that would have warned of the lity before it actually took place? In the near future, the residents of Roosevelt and the surrounding areas will have the unique opportunity to hear these and similar questions discussed and answered. A two-daseminar will help people understand what happened and how to avoid it happening again. On the first day, Sunday, July 19, at the Roosevelt Christian Assembly, a dialogue on Jonestown: Could it Happen Here? will be held featuring J. Edward Decker of the Saints Alive Missionary Fellowship, at 7:80 p.m. On the next day, Monday, July 20, the film, The Cult Explosion, will be shown at Union high school auditorium at 7:80 p.m. The film examines and explains the relationship between People's Temple and other modern cults. Decker will be on hand to answer questions concerning the films. Saints Alive Missionary Fellowship feels it is called to encourage unity sects and among the different denominations of Christianity. This may be one of the few times the town of Roosevelt will have the opportunity to hear comparisons to the People's Temple. The invitation to attend this seminar series is extended to all Above all else, come and hear Decker tell about what Jesus has been doing in his life and what can happen when you really do make Jesus Lord of your life. Entitling his sermon Mister Averse, Pastor Forsyth spoke of the milarities between Moses and each of i. When God called him, Moses isnsged to find at least four excuses r objections in Exodus 8 and 4. When a are called by God, we, too, often take excuses. Perhaps we are afraid rely on God to give us the skills we eed to fill the job. But God calls us ut because He knows what abilities a have, latent or not The greatest ability each of us has ) give to God is our availability. It's ecause of our being average that God in use us to His great glory. A call of iod is a precious gift, a privilege.
