Pastor Forsyth opened the service with the Call to Worship, Genesis 12:14. Jim, Kay, Bret, Travis, Kyle and Suzanne Smith were received into membership by transfer of letter from Woodland Presbyterian Church in New Orleans, ta. Pastor Forsyth welcomed them on behalf of the congregation. The Old Testament reading was Genesis 46:1-5- . The New Testament reading was Acts 16:6 10. The sermon, entitled The Macedonians Await Us" was concerned with Paul's patient persistence in discovering God's will and his immediate response as he acted upon that will. Just as Paul acted, so we, too, need to be ruled by faith rather than fear. We've struggled too hard lo hang on to what we have so that opportunities have slipped away. Right here and right now our own Macedonians await us. We all must enter into prayer, persist in prayer daily, always expecting to hear God's word and call and trusting that He will give us a vision and a burden. We need to be proclaiming the good news so that the Holy Spirit can be busy convicting, convincing and converting. Joe and Laura Thompson were the fellowship hosts following the service. Next Sunday the Pearsons will be here directing the morning worship and a potluck lunch will be served. Bring your items for Crossroads Urban Center. A new calendar has been posted tor signup for fellowship refreshment hosts and hostesses.
