cross stitch pattern the cross stitch Is still used and I 1 have seen lately some charming sets of collars and cuffs made on ecru scrim and hemstitched with a band or pattern in cross stitch above the hem shades of deitt blue or olive green are effective tor this work A very pretty oblong pincushion can be made by taking two pieces of scrim working a conventional design in the center of the top piece in stitch and turning up a wide hem around the sides and ends A number of threads should be drawn before thia hem Is turned up on both pieces of scrim and when the cushion Is placed between them they are laced together by ribbon run through the space where the threads are drawn allo floss should be used tor the cross stitch and a heavy ecru lace sewed on the edge of the broad hem makes a pretty fla ish
