"Insulation & Metal Buildings" West Highway 40 Roosevelt ?22320! The Forest Service is in the process of writing two grazing management plans. These will direct future grazing activities on portions of Forest Service land within the Ashley National Forest, Roosevelt Ranger District. For the past several years, overgrazing by recreational pack and saddle stock has caused a deterioration of the vegetation and soil resources around several of the more popular high country lakes within the Uintah River drainage. Such areas include Chain Lakes, Atwood Basin, Kidney Lake, and several other specific sites. Presently, the Forest Service has control of outfitter guide grazing use by issuing a permit detailing restrictions. We have little or no control over the remaining use by the general public, which is the major contributor to the overgrazing problem. The Forest Service wants and needs - any comments, ideas or possible solutions to the grazing problem in order to best solve it without adversely affecting the using public. The second management plan will be written to convert from sheep grazing to rattle grazing on the Buckridge grazing allotment. This allotment is located between the Farm Creek and Whiterocks River drainages, plus the area in the vicinity of Bennion Park. The present permittee has requested this change of livestock class. This action may require additional fencing and possibly more spring water . developments. We would also appreciate any concerns the public may have about this proposed management decision.
