According to the Division of Wildlife Resources, the fishing picture, at least for the early portion of the season, is gloomy. Many waters will be inaccessible because of snow conditions and other will be unavailable because of access problems. The favorite fishing spots for many, Crouse Reservoir and Caldera Reservoir, located on Diamond Mountain, winterkilled last winter, and because of access problems there will be no fish stocked in either reservoir prior to the opening weekend. Fish will be planted later on if the access situation is resolved. About four months ago surveys were made on the Green River below Flaming Gorge dam using scuba equipment, and good numbers of fish were observed. Last week the same survey was made, with very few fish observed in the section of the stream between the dam and Red Creek. Hopefully, the fish will migrate back into this area before June 2. The Division will stock 10,000 catchable rainbow in the Green River between the dam and Red Creek just prior to the opening. Starvation Reservoir has been open Theatre 7:00 May p. Stream fishing will be best in the Lake Fork River and Jones Hole Creek because of controlled water flows. Most of the other streams will be high and turbid. Fishing is expected to be good in the waters mentioned above, although they may be somewhat crowded because of the unavailability of other waters. As provided for State Forester Paul Sjoblom has designated the period June 1 to Oct 81 as a closed fire season subject to all the restrictions and provisions under the law. During the closed season is it a misdemeanor to set on fire any flammable material on any forest, brush, range, grass, grain, stubble, or hay land without a written permit from the State Forestry or a June 1 1979 Utah fire in state law, designated deputy. Beyond the guide- lines of the permits, common sense will dictate when and where a fire can be safely set, Sjoblom said. Above normal amounts of snowfall and precipitation throughout much of the state will mean an increase in fuels. This increase in fuels will increase the fire hazard, especially aa these fuels dry out later on in the summer, he explained. This calls for more caution whenever a fire is used. Last year the State Foresters office received good public support in the fire prevention program, especially in the area of debris burning, the forester said. The main thrust this year will again be directed against wildfires caused by debris burning. About 75 percent of the fires in the d state last year were and moat of those were preventable, Sjoblom said. man-cause- GOOD WEATHER FOOD MOW AT TACO TIME IN ROOSEVELT Try Our Tacos, Very Own Nachos Mexifries And A Cold Drink pounder of everything you would expect of a hamburger and more VSt Branch. pounds.
