Ball Monday really rolls around fast , it seems. Especially when it comes to coming up with a topic for my column. Flourescent orange really is the color of the day around these parts. Too bad someone doesn't take a count of some kind to see just how many hunters pass through Roosevelt on their way to their hunting grounds. It would be interesting, also, to see how many stop and leave a buck with the local merchants as they head up to the hills to take their bucks". I can imagine that between the sporting good stores and the grocery stores that a bunch of dollars are spent in getting ready for the hunt.. .to say nothing for the gas stations. It is also interesting to try to conduct business during hunting season.. .have you noticed, everything closes for the hunt. The whole town shuts down. Isn't it nice that people feel that secure and relaxed that they are able to close business, or cut down on their labor forces to allow the hunting enthusiast to pursue his interest There is no place quite like the Uintah Basin to live. Thanks and congratulations to these new businesses and individuals for supporting their community through membership in the Chamber. Have you noticed that our Chamber of Commerce sign is up in place? Thanks to Chuck Brunnert at Plateau Oil and a couple of his hands. We really appreciate Chuck and his help. The sign had been leaning against the building for a year now, since it blew down one windy night. Thanks Chuck and employees. The end of the year is fast approaching and so is the end of our finances at the Chamber. As usual this time of year, we wonder where our next buck (speaking of bucks) is coming from. We are down on membership and would encourage those who have not joined the Chamber this year to do so in order that we can continue to carry out our programs. We will be billing for 1979 dues shortly and would encourage payment as soon as possible. This will provide another tax deduction when income tax filing comes around.
