Show Forest Service crews for summer named The Roosevelt District of the Ashley National Forest has completed hiring or selecting; all work erews and individuals for the 1978 season, and fa well into the summer work program. Crewa on the District include: timber management, five persons, thinning, planting, and improvements; range management, three persons, water development and fence construction, noxious weed control maintenance; range-wildlif- e three ment, and general manage- persons, burning, planting, and construction of wildlife water developments; trails, three persons, trail maintenance and limited construction projects; recreation management, three persons, recreation campgrounds; wilderness management, six persons, wilderness rangers to cover the High Uintas for primitive area administration; Young Adult conservation Corps guards-develope- d (YACO, seven enrollees at present; Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA, four enrollees at present. The crews and individuals win be performing a variety of jobs aiding ia the management of the Roosevelt'' Ranger District concerning multiple use management The people hired come from all over the United Winners from each county fair Cook Out King Contest will compete at the state fair for the second annual Utah Cook Out King title. The contest is sponsored by the Utah Farm Bureau Federation. Entertainers to appear twice nightly in the grandstand include: Sept 8, Lynn Anderson; Sept 9, Red Steagall; f,SeDt. 10 KenB7 Rogers; Sept. 11, Johnny Rodriguez; Sept 12, Starland Vocal Band; and Sept 18, DotUe West Dottie will also provide senior citizens with a special matinee performance in addition to her regular two evening appearances. Other entertainers, appearing twice nightly through the remainder of the fair are: Sept 14, Jim Stafford; Sept 15, Jimmy Rodgers; Sept 16, Nick Nixon; and Sept 17, Eddie Rabbit t. Some of the projects the crews will be working on this summer include; 15 range water developments, five wildlife water developments, six miles of fence, 254 miles of trails, 700 acres of prescribed burning, 70 acres of noxious weed control, thinning of commercial timber stands at various locations, and administrative site improvement, painting, etc. act, will appear nightly from Sept 13 through 17.
