The meat business is changing and will become a consumer driven business. Consumers are demanding meat that is consistent in quality, free from biological and pathology contamination, and source verifiable. Cattlemen that can provide beef that meet these qualifications will be the price setters and not the price takers of the new beef business. This new beef business can not be accomplished by any one segment of the beef supply chain. It will require a partnership between segments of the supply chain, which consists of the cowcalf man, the feedlots, the packers, the wholesalers, and the retailers, working together sharing .information and resources to ensure a quality end product. This partnership is providing higher prices being paid for the value added product it is supplying. is For cattlemen of Utah an opportunity that usually is reserved for cattlemen is the being offered.
