Show THE SAN JUAN RECORD Wednesday, October 30, 2002 - Page 22 Helen Mar Nielson Wilson January 30, 1910 - October 20, 2002 Verda Brown Black September 12, 1912 - October 17, 2002 Verda grew in Relief Society, Sunday School and Primary. She taught the Guide Patrol for many years. She also loved to sing in the choirs. Verda up in Blanding at their home in and served as Stake town at 4th South and 1st missionaries Verda Brown Black was born September 2, 1912 in Grayson, now Blanding, Utah to Aariah and Sarah Jane Guymon Brown. three miles Na-vaj- os at south of town. She attended school-hous- September 26, 1962 - September 17, 2002 was Verda in preceded death by her e, husband, Marion Black; three grades in the temporary church building and was in the first graduating class from the new high school on the hill in the spring of 1931. She was a good scholar. She loved to sing and participate in the school operas. She also loved to play basketball. Verda married Marion Black in the Salt Lake Temple on October 23, 1931. They lived in Kirtland, New Mexico and Ganado, Arizona before settling in Blanding. They built their home at 287 W. 400 S. and raised their seven children. At her passing, Verda had a numerous posterity of 50 grandchildren and 154 great grandchildren and six great-gregrandchilhad dren. She many friends, old. and young Verda was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Saints. Christ of Latter-da- y She held numerous positions at v Roy son-in-la- w Johnson, two grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Klea B. Johnson (Roy), Gerald and Alison Black, Bruce and Kay Black, Max and Sandy Black, Clisbee and Naida Black, Raymond and Darla Black, and Elaine and Jeff Ferguson. She is survived by her brother, Woodrow and his wife Beth Brown, a brother-in-laCarl Black, and sisters-in-laEllen Brown and Irene Black. w w, Mark Malone was born September 26, 1962 at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He went home to his Heavenly Father on September 17, 2002. Mark attended Colorado Springs, Colorado schools and also lived and worked in California and Utah. In recent years Mark ran a hardware store in Chicago, Illinois. Mark loved people and ev- erywhere he lived he was a good friend to all and helped many. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Charles Malone. He is survived by parents Sheri and Gene Lowin; sisters Sharen Piper and Karen Crawford; and one daughter, Shelly Ann. Helen was born January 30, 1910, in Bluff, Utah to Francis Willis, r teaching certificate from Pleasant Grove, Utah; Gary Wilson, Monticello, Utah; Brigham Young University and taught in the James (Jan) Wilson, Cedar married Reed H. Wilson City, Utah; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grand children. one-roo- m schools east of Monticello. She October 27, 1937 in Grand Funeral services were held Junction, Colorado. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake L.D.S. on Saturday, October 26, 2002 in the Monticello, Utah Stake Temple. In 1940 the family moved to Vernal, Utah and spent five Monticello, Utah cemetery. years there. In 1946 they moved to Monticello, Utah where they lived for 56 years. Helen was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Da- y Saints and served in several positions up until the time her health would not permit her to do so. She loved her home and was a wonderful Center.
