Dear Editor: Last spring while riding an ATV on the Fry Canyon road to Red Canyon, I lost my wallet. I reported the loss of my credit cards and determined that the cash and other items would never be recovered. Imagine my surprise when, almost five months later, I got a package in the mail. It contained my wallet with ALL the cash and other items still in it!! It is refreshing to know that there are still honest people in our society, and this type of action indicates the quality of the citizens of your area. I would like to thank Gail and Sandy Johnson of Fry Canyon for their integrity. The next time you see them, please commend them for their honorable examples. Sincerely, Kenneth Black Spanish Fork, UT Thanks from Homer Taylor family CONTRACTORS Dear Editor: 'The San Juan 'Recorb HOMETOWN NEWSPAPER FOR SAN JUAN COUNTY. Bert (my brother) and Memice Odette are serving a mission here with us. They paid for my subscription last year to the San Juan Record , but this year they told me I am on my own. So I am enclosing the money for one year. We know we will be here another year. I enjoy getting and reading the Record every week, even though many of the people I knew no longer live there. We were all impressed with your short record holder at the golf course. Keep up the good work. God must love basebair Sr. Citizen Sr. Out ol County 28-No- v. Our thanks and appreciation go to Don Palmer of San Juan Mortu- ary for going the extra mile to make this time as bearable as possible. The Veterans of Foreign Wars (Blanding and Moab) went out of their way to help honor our father and grandfather - thanks so very much to each of you. Last and more importantly, we will forever be grateful to have had our dad in Dr. Reddys kind and knowledgeable care. He was so attentive to dads needs, and to our feelings and concerns. The people of San Juan County are very fortunate to have such a wonderful doctor available to take care of their needs. Publisher - Editor BILL BOYLE Paste-u- The family ofHomer A. Taylor would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for all the food, cards, and beautiful flowers we received at the time of his passing. We appreciate the help and support we received from the Blanding 6th Ward Bishopric, and the Relief Society for the delicious meal following the services as well as for providing babysitters during the funeral. Also, a big thank you to all of his extended family and friends that helped him in so many ways. Dear Editor: I want to make my point very clear. Hooray! for the new baseball and softball fields. I was flying over Blanding just after the new fields were seeded and when I looked down I saw these four beautiful, perfect, green new ballfields. I said to the pilot, We cant be in Blanding, we dont have ballfields like that. But sure enough we were in Blanding, and wow! the fields are impressive. Those fields will give most every child, teenager, and many adults in Blanding thousands of hours of learning new skills, making friendships, keeping out of trouble, building self esteem, teaching the power of winning and the power of losing, learning sportsmanship, setting goals and many unsaid things that can never be replaced. I love football, but cant wait for baseball and softball season. We have fields that are going to be the envy of every other school in our region. We can bring little league tournaments to Blanding that would normally be held in other areas and bring revenue to our local restaurants, stores, and hotels. The fields will be used by many and are long overdue and much needed. Ms. Johnson, I believe, had the right intent in her letter to the editor. I disagree with the citys decision to not allow watering after September 30. I think a more appropriate route would have been to limit watering days first or make the deadline October 30, when we are closer to the winter months. I believe the city leaders made a poor decision, but lets not blame the baseball fields for this problem. It has rained more since those ballfields were seeded than it has all year. Obviously, God must love baseball.
