Wright is one of eleven applicants for the superintendent job. School Board members interviewed five of the applicants. Board members stated that they felt hiring Wright as superintendent was an excellent decision, but it was not an easy decision. Wright has worked for the past six years as the Human Resources Administrator for the school district. As such, he was responsible for the overall management of the Human Resource office and for employee relations and negotiations. Before serving in the district administration, Wright was assistant principal of Monticello High School for several years after teaching for 14 years as an English and Language Arts teacher in the high school. In addition to his work in the school district, Wright has also been an adjunct instructor at the College of Eastern Utah -San Juan Campus, Utah State University and for Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colo- rado. Wright is married to Lisa Wright and they are the parents of four children who are all enrolled in the San Juan School District schools.
