Empire Electric is considering a proposal by La Plata to help salvage the firm by investing another $1.8 million to funnel REANets assets into a new company. Empire Electric Board of Directors has yet to decide exactly what they will do with the proposal. Empire Electric and LPEA have spent at least $8.5 million on REANet since its inception $7.5 million to repay REANets credit line, $300,000 in interest on that loan, and $710,000 in startup costs. REANet declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April after spending $16 million in investment capiCortez Journal tal. Cortez REANet, - Blue buffalo rock art is wiped out by vandal Moab - A unique rock art panel containing the image of a buffalo painted in blue was vandalized in the last three weeks. Bureau of Land Management officials are offering a reward for information that might lead to the culprit. The panel, known as the Blue Buffalo, is located about 15 miles north of Moab near Mill Canyon. The pictograph is one of a few in the Canyonlands region that clearly indicate a buffalo. Rock art experts say a Native American from the Ute tribe probably drew Times Independent it sometime around 150 years ago. Juveniles set library fire Dolores - The Dolores Public Library suffered a fire, apparently the result of a juvenile prank. Three young people were observed dropping a lit book of matches into the librarys book drop. Quick action by witnesses resulted in minimal damage to the building and apprehension of the suspects. Fire damaged the reading room, but never reached the interior of the Dolores Star library. 2002 Olympics snowflake at Soldier Hollow of the Soldier Hollow Olymon been venue has its pedestal. Created by local pic placed sculptor Peter Fillerup, the 3,500 pound stainless steel snowflake is the three dimensional embodiment of the Olympic Organizing Committees snow crystal emblem. The snowflake is the fopal point for the entire Soldier Hollow complex. It is located near the cross country end biathlon venue. Wasatch Wave Heber City - The $100,000 centerpiece New Duchesne High building proposed Roosevelt - Phase one of the Duchesne High building project is slated for construction early next year. The 48,000 square foot building will cost approximately $4.8 million, according to school officials. The new addition will house a new gymnasium capable of seating 1,200, locker rooms, classrooms, a media center, counseling and administrative offices. Phase Two of the building will cost approximately $1.5 million and will not begin until Phase One is complete. Duchesne County School Board members approved the two phase building concept and have given the green light for the bond initiative to finance the project. Duchesne County voters will be asked to approve the bond on November 6.
