Monticello Postmaster ' Eagle project involved local donations Dear Editor I recently completed my Eagle Scout project which included moving the Veteran Memorial Bench from the triangle park to the Blanding City Cemetery. I approached many bunlnpnH owners and individuals asking for donations and support with my project. The response was outstanding. It was much easier to plan and carry out my project because of helpful support from the community. I appreciate the donation of knowledge, time, exK'rtisc, equipment, and materials that helped me to successfully complete my prqject. My thanks to the following businesses: San Juan Building Supply, City of Blanding, Parley Redds Hardware, Holliday Construction, Utah Power and Light, Palmers Bookstore, and Blanding City Cemetery. Thanks to all the war veterans, scouts, businessmen, ward members and my family who gave so generously of their time. - Criminal law DUI A Knights Tale ) Drug Possession DomesticDivorce Custody Cali the theatre (PG-13- for additional movies and show times 587-280- 8 P,D. If that jeep trail up the wash, through the quicksand and tamarisks, is San Juan Countys idea of a road and they aro asking the taxpayers to subsidize such, then somebody is screwing Homeldy. Likewise, if the National Park Service is worried about the tamarisk, frogs and toads that may be traumatized by people, who own the park, wishing to see that magnificent sandstone statuary, Angel Arch, then it is time to build a permanent, environmentally correct road up the canyon. I am certain the powers that be in San Juan will be willing to build the road. They have contributed little in the way of roads to the Needles section. Here is opportunity to put the money where the mouth is. Frankly, the attitudes of San Juan County officials over the yenrs is the reason the headquarters for NPS areas in southeastern Utah is in Moab. There are courts for these disputes and a return to 19th centulaw enforcement is not the answer. The question? In a movie role, Jane Fonda delivered her irrational nucleophobia sermon and thousands were converted to her insanity. This unleashed a flood of fear mongering demagogues who call themselveB environmentalists. It would have been harmless enough, but the followers of this religion want to impose their crazies on the rest of society. The ranks of her religion are becoming more noisy and they spread fear with their doomsday ideological terrorism. There are dangers associated with nuclear radiation, but they have been so greatly exaggerated as to be laughable. Dangers claimed by the environmentalists are based on emotion and poor science. A year ago, a headline in the Spokane Spokesman-Revieread Moab sitting on an ecological atomic bomb, implying that the tailings pile is about to explode and destroy the world. The mill wastes have not been proven to have injured anyone, and its radiation is less intense than sunshine. The Sierralists want the pile removed. They have no problem with the dust that will be stirred up by trucks and loaders 24 hours a day for several years - yet get all upset by a few trufcks hauling similar material through town to the Blanding mill! They have no problem with the tailings being stored 30 miles from Moab, but cannot stand similar material being stored 80 miles away in Blanding. Everyone wants a safe, clean environment.' How can anyone favor the dirty burning of coal to produce electricity or natural gas over nuclear energy and be considerate of the environment? Burning of coal or natural gas adds millions oftons ofcarbon dioxide to the atmosphere, you cannot burn carbon without making carbon dioxide. Nuclear energy makes no carbon dioxide. Concern for the uranium mill in Blanding-i- s ludicrous, true environmentalism favors recycling. The Blanding mill recycles waste materials and recovers valuable rare metals. The radiation danger of the material through Moab is only slightly less than sunshine. Jane, you did a good job on these gullible folks. The seduction was complete.
