Show tEZEPHYREGEMBEKM national parks in the U.S., not to mention graded dirt roads. How much is enough? Wilderness designation is not forever. It is simply law, and laws can be changed, as evidenced by our treaties with the Native Americans: they were kept from annihilating our leaders by the words "..as long as the grass grows and the rivers flow" greedy and war-lik- e which they used when agreeing never to lay claim to the huge tracts of land that were originally defended by Indians when cattlemen and miners came unwelcome to their homes to steal by force the riches of the land. (Ironically, another law from that era, the 1872 Mining Act, remains respected and virtually unchanged.) Laws can be changed, but damage in this land remains a long, long time. Act wisely, conservatively, and lovingly. Don't trash the land that feeds! Speaking of rivers, the "rivers" of San Juan County are running pretty tow lately. Maybe it seems silly to connect the two, but consider that gratitude for the earth's gifts g and outright contentious opposition might bring the rain that generations of and mechanized rape have lost us. Helping the present Native Americans get a quality education would be a nice start at retribution. The booking officer at the county jail told me we all have to live by the "law of the land," and I agree, but I think it's hard to hear what that is, sitting in an electrified, window-les- s, cement and steel tomb. Go get dirty and wet Wreck your socks and shiver a little, and maybe you'll remember the law of the land: respect, nurture and listen to her and she will return that nurturing and provide for us. Defy her and abuse her and we will all suffer. If you believe in a God, act as if it's Judgment Day, today. How should the creation be treated? How can you know the manifest will of God? God has many faces. Most of the faces of San Juan County are canine, feline, avian, insect and Indian. Find a way to live together, not against! We live in the most beautiful and enjoyable place on earth! If you want money, go to the ugly wretched places where money is made! As for the commissioners and attorney, I urge you to get right with God and the citizens you represent! grave-robbin- climate-controll- ed (Mra c s.
