Show DWCs pirodycftidii of The Sound of Music a success determination of these four who made sure it got done, and everyone who participated in the play or who attended one of the three performances thank you all profusely. Many, many people sacrificed dinner time for a month, time with family and other things to participate in the production, unfortunately there is not space enough in this entire newspaper to list and thank them all. We hope these photos wil help in a small way thank you all for your invaluable assistance. Most noticeably missing from the photos are those of the nuns choir. Unfortunately we took eight rolls of film; only seven came out and the eighth must have contained the nuns photos. Our other two sources of photos were TDY at press time. Last Monday, the curtain rose for the first performance and the butterflies were traveling a decided clockwise formation in the cast room. Since two of us were in the play, we asked Pat Alexander to write the review that appears on page 2 of this Sampler. A couple of brief lapses of stage fright didn't mar the d of performance and one-thir- it was over. Tuesday everyone was an old hand at this stage stuff and a few little apple polishes particularly in the concert hall scene brought the audience to their feet. v Wednesday, the final performance, the backstage (and some of us onstage) gremlins were busy bringing even more life to the production as someone got the idea to put a live mouse in Maria's laundry hamper in the bedroom scene . . . you guessed it, she never looked in it and Franz (Byron Wilkinson) decided to do. some window washing on the glass in the non-existe- nt . ! porch doors. Rob Kroff made himself a pair of cutoff gloves and, went almost literally wild making sure the thunder was realistic. The highlight for the cast was the concert hall scene as three of the nuns, led by Bev Shupe, playing the third place winners, decided to literally attack me. Ellie Wilson as Fraulein Schweiger must really like tall guards as she drove Kary Gardner crazy with her hugs and footwork. There were many other memorable moments with ' Maria (Carol Long) checking the bed. Captain Von Trapp (Ed Lloyd) and his infernal whistle, Duey Szabo and her bench and imperial navy, Chris Hoyt wrestling props away from cast members so they'd be ready for the next performance, Kathy Whit- aker trying to get everyone to learn the Laendler, Mike Massoians fortisimos on the baritone and Jeff Dutton's button pushing sticks. The nun's chorus singing alleu-lui- a before the curtain rose, Leisie's nowers for the cast, the. frantic back-stag- e changes, the wrestling with the cast-iro- n furniture, everyone's nerves, Gretles smiles and piggyback rides backstage, Japets persuasion, Kurt's bows, and the heavenly sounds of the nuns chorus throughout. We hope everyone enjoyed the play, and are deeply sorry - that the copyright holders would not allow us to televise the production for those of you who didnt see it. If I missed anyone, or anything, please forgive me, it was not intentional, just think of it as anouier line that Max missed! |
