A daily record is kept for mileage and awards are given for certain distances. For the military, your runs during morning PT can go towards this program. The outing was supposed to be just a pig roast and welcome for spring scheduled for Saturday, but a few hearty souls decided to. make a weekend cam-poout of it. Joe Peterson and family. Van Davis and family, Steve Kopitsky and family, Doug Kulac and family, Scott Wallace and family, Barry Morrison and family, Bill Newman and family, plus three dogs, 1 cat, a horse and me and my fiance all decided to get there Thursday night. ' On Friday, Scott Nelson popped up with his family and two dogs. He also had two tents, one of the and his wife, the other for the kids. (Smooth move 363-767- 6. Ski return Little League baseball season set deadline nears The 1982 Dugway Little League season will hin from May 17 to July 10. Hoys and girls between the ages of 9 and 12 can sign up at Vickis office. . Tryouts will be tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at the Zylstra LL Field. You may also register and pay the $5.00 fee at that time, registration is also now in progress. Kids 6-- 8 years old may play. The season should start May 28. T-lr- all Intramural softball registration Mens and womens intramural soft-ba- ll registration is now underway. The season should run from June 8 to Sep. 10. Team rosters should be turned in to Vicki NLT May 26. Womens Golf League The Womens Golf Club meets on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 a.m. and evenings at 6 p.m. and Fridays at 9:30 a.m. Any woman interested in playing should try to play at one of these times and tum in the scorecards. ut All those who still have ski rental . equipment checked out from Rec Services must return it to Vicki NLT May 13. A late fee will be charged after that date. Rule changes at pool Kids ages 10 and under who dont have an ID card can take a.test to allow them entrance into the swimming pool without having an adult with them. The test includes-swimmin- g the width of the pool, up and back, treading water for 30 seconds and floating on your back 30 seconds. If the test is passed a parent has to sign a release form and the child may swim without parents supervision. The newest swimming pool hours are as follows: Mon-Thu- r, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Wed, Thur, 4-- 9 p.m. 1:30-4:3- 0 Fri, 9:30-12:3p.m. 12:30-4:30 Sat, p.m. Sun, 1:30-6:3- 0 p.m. The price is 50$ per day, with active duty military swimming for free. Pinewood Derby Winners AT A PINEWOOD DERBY held recently at Dugway, 15 members of Troop 481 competed for top honors in the annual event. Captain John Kelly of the Provost Marshal Office judged the event, with Daniel Morgan taking first place, Stuart Sperry second, and Wayne Gould, third. Kelly awarded mock tickets for speeding to the. top three finishers. (I managed to weasle out by doing other camp chores!) Joe Peterson, Van Davis, Doug Kulac and Scott Wallace provided the. wood with the much appreciated help from Scotts chain saw. The charcoal was provided by a few surprised individuals who woke up Saturday morning to find theyd donated their 20-l- b bag to the worthy cause . . . but the guy who collected the donations missed one during his midnight requisition . . . Barry Morrison. At about 7'Saturday morning the pig was placed into the pit where it roasted until 6 p.m. An-kenbau- er. While the pig was getting his. Jack Grady and company found ways to entertain the guests with a 22 shoot and bow shoot among others. In total about 70 folks enjoyed the feast, thanks in part to the expert surgery of Scott Nelson and Joe Peterson. A huge tip of the hat goes to the father of this whole shindig, Johnny Smith, and thanks to everyone who came and pitched in to make our kickoff picnic such a success. But some of you left to early. . . thanks to Van Davis, we enjoyed smoked turkey about 1 1:30 p.m. Sunday started as a beautiful day, but about 1 p.m. the rain started and scared everyone home. All in all, the weekend was a big success. In other club news, the logo, was selected and the jackets have been ordered. Anyone wishing to purchase one should come to the next meeting. May 22 is the date for the first rockhounding trip to Topaz, more details in the next Sampler. The SkeetTrap range is ready to go and the club has the operation of it. Volunteers are needed to help run the range.' Remember, the meetings are held Monday nights at 7:30 in the Community Club. We desperately need more members to attend and help get the summer programs off solidly. We also are in need of candidates for secretary and treasurer. At last weeks meeting we had a presentation from Spirit Lake Lodge thanks to Sheriff Broadway. Phil Hale has the details. ' sir . Mike said that parts cost him about $50-7but that you could buy somethign like it for a modest $200-30in Salt Lake. In fact, the center will soon be offering instruction in working with stained glass in a month or so. Smaller projects could be produced for as little as $5-1- 5 for materials which would cost $50 or more in town: Anyone interested in taking lessons on working with stained glass, or if youd just like more information, contact the Skill Development Center at 5, 0 MUiUve!
