Show -- r Best Available Copy 'X- - I I The Herald Journal Logan Utah Tuesday December 16 2003 — C3 Food drives a By Kathy MKcheN A Marcy Sugar Creators Syndicate Inc DEAR ANNIE: I grew up in the small town of Woodbury NJ When I was in school " in the ’60s and ’70s we were given notes to take home before the holidays The note? v said “Please do not give gifts to the teach-- : ers Instead we will have a food drive with a prize given to the teacher whose class collects the most food” ' This was a wonderful practice I wish would spread to every school I was horrified to dis- cover that my kids expected to give: gifts to: each and every one of their teachers Teachers don't need more cologne bottles and picture frames And what about those children who cannot afford to be so generous?
