Janice Hamilton are marking their 50th wedding anniversary July 17 2002 They were married in the Manti LDS Temple in 19S2 a few weeks after Richard graduated from the Korean War where he served in the artillery around Heartbreak Ridge They met earlier at Jordan High School She was a raving beauty according to Richard He was a much too persistent winker according to Norma Mary Anderson and Vertis Matkin Bodily Janice “If was love at first sight” he said She said “the sparks started much later” Their family as numerous now as the sands of the seas are going to gather here in the valley to treat than to a three day family celebration on the front lawn according to their Paid announcements Bodilys’ 50th Norma Mary Anderson and Vertis Matkin Bodily were married on July 21 19S2in the Manti LDS Temple Norma was raised in Moroni Utah where she graduated from Moroni High School She then went on to Snow College and B YU for a teaching degree Her school teaching career has extended from Moroni to Preston Idaho Lewiston Utah and North Cache in Richmond She has served on the Lewiston City council for several children Francesca Jensen Adrienne Lungman Paul Keeler Jolene Jacobs and Maria Hoth It will surely exhaust the old duffers But they will hold up somehow according to their neighbor A Sid Ophillis Richard and Janice began married life in Provo after the Manti formalities They faced the living in their apartment for honeymoon entertainment and have pretty much stuck to similar fun things throughout their married life She found that attending to five bawling babies was about as much entertainment as a body could ' stand He found' that a steady diet of study to yield a PhD in biochemistry was the equal of fallen arches and bad breath After that period of schooling at Ohio State University they lived in Bozeman Mont then in Ames Iowa and then in Logan and Nibley Utah while Richard pursued his profession as a research years ' resur-ximf- Vertis was bom and raised in Lewiston on the family dairy famt He graduated from North Cache High School and went on to serve a short time in the military and a two year mission for the LDS Church They met in Preston Idaho through a common acquaintance As a result of this eter--‘ nal union six children have been blessed with wonderful parents: Janice (Loyd) Field Boyd (deceased) Marilyn (Rod) Miller Stan (Alison) Kim still managed to befriend every waif and soul in need Richard has been willing to attend most any church function where food was served plus duty in several high councils bishoprics and teaching assignments Thompson Carol Joyce Cooper Thompson of Providence will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on July IS They will be spending time with their family this week to honor the occasion which has always been one of their favorite things to do ' Gaurth was born Aug 17 1933 in Logan Utah He is the oldest of four children born to Jesse L and DeWda Sorensen Thompson Joyce was born Jan 10 193S in Logan She is die youngest of six children born to Harry and Frances “Rebecca" Webb Cooper Gaurth and Joyce both attended Logan High School where they met and began their courtship Realizing they woe very much in love and meant for each other they were soon married for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS Temple on July IS 19S2 Gaurth started as a young man and acquired his first farm in Arbon Valley Idaho Gaurth quickly developed significant talents and dry-farmi- ng abilities in operating a sue ' cessL growing farm The family farm has been and continues to be a big part of their lives together In additioni to farming Gau rth enjoys time with his family boating snowmobilin traveling repairing anything that breaks and irebuilding automobiles (his most recent project is ajeqi for he and Joyce to go “cruisin’” in) He also loves die opportunity to share his testimony of the gospel with others and exhibits a genuine giving attitude in serving others Joyce has always been a terrific example of motherhood Those who know her would agree that she excels in many areas She is a remarkable cook seamstress caregiver housekeeper and grandmother She is an avid reader and has an uncanny talent for crossword puzzles It 1801160 said that Joyce exemplifies Christ like charity in all she does As a couple they enjoy a variety of activities and leisure time with their many friends and associates Gaurth Eaglo Seoul lo Rigby Bryce William Rigby 18 son of Bret and Annette Rigby of Wellsville has been awarded the Eagle Scout badge ' Bryce is a member of Troop 21 sponsored by the Wellsville LDS 1st Ward and recently graduated from Mountain Crest High School and LDS Seminary His Scout leaders were Roger Western and Joe ' Brough His project was building a large mobile planter box for the Alzheimer’s wing of Sunshine Terrace his project was painting tables at Maple Rise campground Stokes Cart Stokes son of Ray and Pam Stokes of 13 Clark Ryan Clark son of Brent and Kae Clark
