| Show NUTTING KILLED IN SALT LAKE CITY fred W mutt ng a sw achman in ore gon short line yards is dead fred W nutting viba fatally wound ed in bis room at salt lake citi last friday night and died shortly after while being removed to st marks hospital the wound was made by a 32 caliber ball fired from a harring aton richards revolver wh cb was found by the officers tucked tar away between the mattresses of the bed on which nutting lay in a position that it would have been a physical phi imps eibl lity for him to have placed it he had been in company with mrs mattle quinn the wife of his foreman in the railroad yards during the great er part of the day and mrs quinn gave the alarm which led to the dis covery of nutting s dying condition by asking a child to hurry tor a glass of water when the news spread and the officers reached the scene she was still in a semi nude condition but did not appear in the beast excited fright ened or worried she did not appear to believe that nutting was dangerous ly wounded on saturday mrs mattle quinn faced the coroner s jury in chief wil J lynch s office at the police sta alon and told her story of the gle that resulted in the shooting of frederick W nutting mrs quinn declared on the stand that while she was in the room with nutting she was overtaken by remorse for her unfaithfulness to her husband she started to return to him nutting declared he could not live without her and threatened to shoot her it she left him he drew the revolver she grasped it they struggled and the gun went off inflicting the fatal wound mrs quinn stated that she was 22 years of age that she had been raar ried nearly three years to daniel J quinn a foreman in the oregon short line yards and that she had known nutting for about two months nutting had been married about six years and his wife is in kansas city at the present time |
