Nursing Home in Preston Idaho She was bom Nov 14 1906 Utah the daughter of Johp Pearson and Clara Jones Smith She married Elias Lee Hansen Oct 29 1960 in Win- nemucca Nev Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LOS Temple He died in in Logan v 1982 practicum to nurses and staff In the rehabilitation unit at the Center Sarah married her beloved husband Colin Nicholson Nov 29 1947 They later solemnized their marriage for time and aH eternity in the Salt Lake LOS Temple on June 17 1954 She is qreceded in death by two of herseven children a twin daughter Connie and a son Steven She is survived by her husband Colin Nicholson Salt Lake City sister Jean Perry Logan Utah sons Paul Salt Lake City Hal Chandler Ariz daughters Kathleen Bovo Sandy Utah Melanie Meyer Salt Lake City Diane Rodriguez Las Vegas Nev sisters-in-laColice Nicholson Magna Utah Marge Nicholson St George Utah 30 grandchildren 11 and many extended family members Sarah was an active member of the Crystal Heights First ' Ward of the Church of Jesus Saints and Christ of Latter-da- y served as a Primary chorister in the Relief Society presidency and numerous other callings She was dedicated to communi- ty service throughout her pro- fessional church and social capacities Additionally she was a daughter of an original Utah Pioneer — her father came to Paradise with the William B Preston Company in 1863 — and served as a captain in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers A viewing was held Tuesday and memorial services were held on Wednesday March 16 2002 at the Crystal Heights First Ward chapel in Salt Lake ' City Another viewing for family and friends as held prior to the Wednesday sendees at the chapel Interment was in the Wasatch Memorial Park Cache Industries Ruth was a very special wife mother grandmother friend and teacher who touched many Ives It is difficult to express how much she wi be missed by al that were associated with her Ruth is survived by one sister Colleen (Dick) Croxford Alexandria Va two brothers Robert (Arlene) Hutchison Logan and Eddie (Audrey) Hutchison Logan her children: Kent (Ruth Ann) Smithfield Kelly Dayton Shannon (Dale) McDonald Smithfieid and Sydney Smith Richmond She is survived by 10 grandchildren and six Ruth was preceded in death by her husband parents a son Gerald Scott Ryan who was killed in action hi Vietnam two grandchildren Roxanne Ryan and clothing and baby blankets for relatives and friends She also enjoyed cooking and her family always appreciated her delicious holiday meals She was an avid reader who loved Science fiction and was always willing to lend a favorite book Ruth was naturally gregarious and gladly shared her wisdom in the form of stories from her own ' Bfe During her life she worked as a first grade teacher at North
