30 years of experience in my toolbox” he said “Here” he said “the congregation has a vision knows what they want to do where they want to go and my job is primarily to try to stay ahead of them to 'lead' them” he said chuckling' He outlined the congregation's - goals: “Worship and experiencing God's grace here in Cache Valley education for youth participating with LEAPfrog (an ecumenical youth group) and community outreach providing an alternative environment for worship” he summarized Community outreach he added is also embodied in community activities like holding a in Peace Bible study at Pioneer Valley Lodge assisted living facility and doing work for Habitat for Humanity Sometimes Kreiensieck added community outreach just happens In fact while he was in Logan interviewing for the pastoral position someone stopped vhim as he was shopping at Macey's and asked him for advice about dealing with the death of a relative “Just in my two weeks here when I wear my collar people introduce themselves to me” he ’ said Before he came to Prince of - i Peace Lutheran Church ' See PASTOR on C2 perspective “Something like that” I answered I realized where he was going with ' this line of thinking so I added “That doesn’t happen anymore” “But it is possible” he concluded He was obviously looking for a little hopd I tend to cope with life by preparing myself the worst case I call it “being realistic” I have seen the disheartening effect that my somber disposition can have on people around me and have been trying to be more optimistic But no words came to mind so I just put my hands on each side of his head pulled him close and kissed his forehead He responded with a firm hug I had not violated my conscience by reinforcing unrealistic expecta- -' turns nor had I snuffed out the flick-‘of a child’s hope I simply demonstrated my love and support with a kiss and a hug Sometimes people ask me why a loving God allows good people to suffer There are insightful books er written on the subject but theological explanations can get a little complicated and be of little comfort when someone is hurting The way I understand it God demonstrated his love when his son Jesus absorbed the punishment for humankind's sins against the Cre- ator Anyone who receives his for- giveness and fully embraces him has the hope of a new imperishable body and a world without suffering Paul of Tarsus an early Christian leader who had suffered much put it!
