SWALLOWED BY QUICKSAND four year old child loses life in presence of mother within sight of her mother who was powerless to render assistance assi tance the four year old daughter of james kin ley a manufacturer at fort washing ton long island has been swallowed sip by quicksand her mother fell un conscious and Is now in a dangerous condition the little girl was at play only a tew beet from home near the shoe of the sound when she stepped into a murky pool left by recent rains the was only two or three feet deep but the bottom of the pool was quicksand the woman screamed and then swooned workmen from her husband s fac tory rushed to the scene and the woman was restored sufficiently to tell what had happened the men set 10 work to rescue the child whose body being light had not sunk entirely several men went down but were res cued by their comrades and finally the child g body was recovered
