indian chief shot at the fishing grounds a few miles below welser idaho the chief of the umatilla indians about of whom are camped there Is lying at the point of death from a pistol bound he Is supposed to have been shot saturday morning by one of the tribe but the indians will give no information con berning it several of them were in the city friday evening and procured whisky and when they left tor their camp were intoxicated and shots were heard by residents living along the route to their camp
