Show TORNADO KILLS MANY FIFTEEN PEOPLE KILLED BY TWISTER AT ST PAUL mann two hundred bu id are Wrecked ii the damage to property being Es at three M II 11 on dollars fifteen are reported to be dead two score injured and property oss esti mated to reach three million dollars are the results of a fierce tornado that swooped down on st paul minn shortly after 9 clock saturday the tivoli theater was demolished the empire theater razed the high bridge an immense structure crossing the mississippi at a height of feet was almost totally destroyed and buildings are more or less damaged the storm was of short duration lasting not more than fifteen minutes the devastation it wrought was ter rifle the wind according to the gov weather observer blew eighty miles an hour coming from the southwest buildings were unroofed and fronts blown in the cellars being flooded with the ram which came ao 10 great waves along with the wind elec trie wires were prostrated and many persons were injured by contact with electric light and trolley wires fort snelling situated on a level plateau and unprotected from the fury of the storm the government mil gitary buildings miraculously escaped severe injury the storm center seemed to tallow the river course only the edge pass ing over the northwest end of the res er trees were uprooted branches torn away and hurled against wires crashing them to the ground |
