The previous year spelled disaster for the lady Eagles and Paur Some people went so far as to say and I quote " If he doesn't win he's (Paur) out the door" The men's program ended up placing third in region and it should have been second They dropped two easy wins against Dixie which would have gave the Eagles second place Oh well you know what they say about should have's The Eagles did manage to win the first and lose to Dixie in the semi-fina- ls game of play-ofThe women's team had an up and down ride throughout the whole year They would look great one week then choke the next They did however win a few games here and there and squeak in the playoffs as the eighth- - seeded team They eventually were blown out by Rick's and finished with their most successful season under coach Paur Same scenario different year! Baseball is back only this time they can't end the season like they did in fall It is for real now At the start of the year the team looked unbeatable In fact they led the region fora lengthy period of time However it didn't last too long They ended up losing a lot of their for the remaining games down the stretch and again no play-off- s baseball few however did have a Eagle program They players exccll and make all region Maybe next year Dave Guymon and Paur will coach the baseball team into the play-off- s then again not maybe Soccer and tennis wrapped up the year Soccer well it was there They won one game or maybe two Who really was paying attention? The point is they had a year under Ted Bianco The readers have to consider this it's only a club You can't really expect them to be loo competitive Tennis had a fairly decent year They won a few games and the one's they lost were even close They finished with an even record In conclusion I don't want people to think that I'm bashing because I'm really not I'm just telling what is the truth If you as the fans want to see a winning team stick to men's basketball team and you will be fine fs not-so-go- od Eric Talley Troy DeLuca sports editor don't think that loo many oppositions were made when Eric Talley was chosen for the Eagle Most Valuable Player for the 92-9- 3 Eagles basketball team Talley was a consistent scorer and team leader He played the number two guard spot and he held CElTs highest point average this year Talley's average ended up at 213 points per game while adding four assists and two rebounds per game Coach Stubbs commented that "Talley has that Michcal Jordan presence He has the ability to take over a game and produce scoring anytime he feels it” Talley also led the conference and team in three-poishooting He averaged 32 percent from the three-poiline In comparison last years great shooting guard Junsic Cottcn averaged 46 percent Talley has chosen where he will further his career He will be at Montana State for the next couple of years Most likely look for the same kind of numbers up in Montana as he had here in Price He will be an instant impact player in the Big Sky Conference Who knows maybe even the Big Sky player of the year?
