Show The Eagle - page 5 Gallery to close season with traditional student show The 1989-9- 0 season at G allay East on the College of Eastern Utah campus in Price will close with the annual strident art exhibit from May 14 through June 7 The Gallery will host a reception to open the show on May 14 from 7 until 9 pjn The reception is free and the public is invited to attend and meet the student artists “It’s nice to have a student show as a first step so that we can gain experience and have something to use for references later on in our art careers" stated artist Liz Dikes According to Jim Young the director of Gallery East several works of art created by CEU students during the last year will be selected from more dun 200 pieces submitted Car the juried showing "This is probably the most diverse exhibit we feature each year at the gallery" Young explained "Our students turn in a large variety of works including prints sculpture painting drawings photos and ceramics We try to select pieces that represent each medium” In the past twenty years since it was esublished the show has represented the diversity of the student body as well with works by not only traditional freshmen and sophomores but also continuing education and students Young said that all the art students on campus are encouraged to create pieces to be considered Cor the show throughout the year Non art majors are encouraged to enter their works as well is great to see how talented the students in our art department are and it is always fun to see the projects that your friends have been working
