projects change the face of the campus at the College of Eastern Utah have been tentatively set up during the next 10 years Snow College Dixie CEU have all been and College brought under inspection of Gov Norman Bangerter since student growth in Utah has risen to a level where there is concern that the universities in the state can't handle it all Therefore rural colleges arc needed more The master plan developed by the state's Division of Facilities and Construction Management shows the current plan considering building a new dorm next to Sessions This plan changes the recently released plans of the new donn going next to Townhouse Apartments DFCM's plans also include a new Student Activity Center that would include a Student Union Hall and student services like counseling cgistralion and financial aid Also featured in the building would be a student lounge cafeteria and snack bar The Geary Theatre will undergo a face lift also Orginally the Geary Theatre's plans included a scene shop in the structuring But the funding for the theatre came in bits and pieces The final building was finished after five phases were completed The sixth and final scene phase left on it was the Foundation changes plans for new dorm CEU by Gina Howard feature editor Karen Bliss Miller said "We decided the Campus Master Plan had such a neat idea that we'd take the lime to make it work" Miller said The new dorm will now be built either adjacent to Aaron Apartments The Foundation intended Jones Dormitory or Sessions to break ground for the new dorm Honor Hall Miller said She last week with construction in projects that the earliest the dorm can be completed and ready progress by die end of May but for students is by fall of 1990 tlicn decided to hold off in order but says no definite date for the to comply with the CEU master plan CEU Dean of Development start of construction has been set The College of Eastern Utah Foundation has changed its plans to build a new dorm adjacent to Townhouse shop However the funding that was available at that time went to the building of the campus library so the scene shop was never added Now however the scene shop along with a fine arts gallery and a gbssed-i- n atrarium with the art studio on the main floor and classes and offices up above arc to be added as an extension off of the stage Because of insecure funding the master plan is still vague but the college administration agrees on the DFCM assessment It gives the administration an ideal of what they want and need The final plan will be out in about a month Neil Richardson owner of Richardson and Associates who arc currently working on CEU's CompulcrBusincss Building located in the old hospital west of the Townhouse dorms arc making sure that the final plans for the building match those of the DFCM's The ComputcrBusincss Building is in its first phase of construction with the second scheduled to begin late this year The current master plan for CEU unlike those for Snow and Dixie will provide adequate classroom space on the campus once the ComputcrBusincss Building is complete This building takes priority over anything else and is to be finished by 1990-9- 1
