Show 2— CEU—Tuesday Nov 9 1976 Guest Editorial The Eagle Listens The Eagle speaks Are policemen consistent? Editor: was 11:20 am Tuesday October 25 1976 The bells began to ring again in the main building Was it a miracle? No it really happened Finally the bells are being fixed although whether they will be ringing at the right time we will have to wait and see The bells have been malfunctioning since the spring quarter of last year And since then CEU has been in a constant state of late startings and people never at the right place at the right time When the Eagle began inquiring a few weeks ago about the bells not ringing an amazing amount of interest was shown One of the custodians just didn’t bother to answer the question put to him A member of the Administrative Faculty commented “I didn't know they weren’t working" And finally a Freshman said he thought maybe colleges didn't have bells Well along with the bells not working time seems to stand still at CEU Maybe not time itself but the clocks that should keep correct time do Or else they are running and each building's clock will announce a completely different 1 time If you don't think this is a problem then you never have been fifteen minutes late to your 10:30 class because your 9:30 professor got so excited about his lecture he forgot to people standing stop on time You haven't seen twenty-fiv- e in the hall waiting for a class that they thought started ten minutes earlier but there is another class in the room and their professor is nowhere to be found You haven't been in g experience of charge of a forum and had the in their lets wander out class anytime having people The Eagle feels that CEU will run at a smoother pace with less lost souls running around if the clocks and bells are accurately and permanently fixed The Eagles will know when it is time to go to their nests and not be left flying through the sky nerve-rackin- This Letter is being written to point out some unfortunate occurrences at CEU concerning our recent elections' The basis of this letter is not to downgrade those involved as much as it is to stimulate action to prevent those occurrences from happening again In our school's Constitution the election procedure is so loosely defined that any of all the following could happen as it did in this past election Candidates are able to win by a mere two or three votes over their competitors Voting officials were permitted to influence voters by actions and-o- r word ofmouth The candidates were allowed to be in the vicinity of the balloting Names were not checked to see eligibility for voting Candidates in this year's election were not screened for fulltime student eligibility This is evident by the winner of this year's Freshmen secretary If all this was allowed to happen one cannot help but wonder Editor about how the ballots were counted Is it possible to suggest flaws there too? Were the people counting the ballots nonpartisan and We can't let the Thanksgiving season come and go they themselves eligible? without asking ourselves "Are we grateful enough?"
