Show Band and Choirs VOLUME Tuesday I NUMBER IV December Wednesday concert will open CEU Christmas season 2 1975 The COLLEGE OF EASTERN UTAH by John Keller Members of the CEU Concert Choir Chamber Choir and Concert Band will combine their musical talents on Wednesday December 3 to present their annual Christmas Concert It will be held in the Geary Theatre beginning at 7:30 pm There is no charge and the general public as well as the student body is in- - plans Christmas theme for Preference Ball AVIS "That Christmas Feeling” the theme of this year’s Preference Ball will ' on unfold Friday December 5 at' the Elks Lodge This annual affair is the by sponsored Associated Women Students The dance will begin at 8:30 pm and last 11:30 until pm “Rosewood” from Provo will provide the music The officers of AWS Susan Widman Linda Slaugh Carol Tomsic Cathy Paiz and Terri Lea master are in charge of arrangements Homecoming Royalty: King Barry Evans and Queen Wendy Atwood During the evening the announcement of the “most preferred” man will take place Two runners-u- p will also be named CEU women may vote for their favorite sophomore man on Tuesday and Wednesday King and Queen reign over Homecoming The College of Eastern Killpack and Brian Brock- bank Blue Debs Joyce Lipsey and Bob Sieger its Utah opened Homecoming festivites Debbie Dorm with the announcement of East and Lamar Dinkelman on the 1975-7- 6 royalty Wednesday evening November 16 at the variety show held at the student lounge December 2 and 3 in the student lounge Invitations have been issued and tickets are being sold at the cashier’s office Tickets are $3 a couple The yearbook staff will be taking pictures at the dance and are charging $250 per photo Tickets for pictures may also be purchased in advance at the cashier's window President Susan Widman wishes all women to know they are invited to the Preference Ball and if any one has not received a printed invitation she should contact her or any other AWS officer immediately Decorating will begin on Thursday December 4 and during the day on Friday Anyone wishing to help with the decorating is urged to volunteer The band will under the direction of Wayne Erickson play such pieces as the popular “Sleigh Ride” by LeRoy Anderson “Chant” and “Jubilo” written by Francis McBeth and one of John Philip Sousa's most famous works “Sempre Fidel is” There is the possibility some soloists will also perform The Concert Choir and the help of Lee Johnson as choreographer have a varied program outlined for the night Included will be such well known numbers as “We Wish You A Merry Christmaas” “0 Thro’ The Olive Trees” which includes two flutes a and pair of tom-tom- s well as as finger cymbals Exhibit and sale set by art students The CEU Student Ceramic Exhibit and Sale will be held during the second week in December Monday 8 through Friday 12£Fhis is an exhibit of student work alone The artists hope to interest visitors in doing part of their Christmas shopping at the sale which will be held on Thursday and FYiday of the week The exhibit will be m the CEU library gallery and will be open to the public during library hours Landscapes Judged The Eastern Utah Landscape Exhibit was Juried by Mr Osral Allred with Ted Pressett’s “Landscape from Price” winning the $200 purchase award This painting will become a part of CEU's permanent collection Merit awards were also given to BeverLee Gorishek for her entry “Rapture” and to Cliff Bergera for “House and Coal Shed” Activity Calendar for December 12 “Sub for Santa” Project Sigma Gamma Chi Advance Registration I-- 10 3 CHRISTMAS CONCERT 7:30 -
