Jusj the College Choir's annual spring tour Giving concerts in churches schools and auditoriums the choir stayed overnight with the up-o- townspeople who opened homes to accomodate the their dioir members Travel was by private car and everyone followed in caravan style A novel as well as a safe idea no one has ever gotten or injured on a This year the choir members voted to go north again They toured the Wyoming area for the four day trip That is from Sunday the 12th to Wednesday the 15th The schedule was very rigorous and covered close to a thousand miles of travel Leaving abou 10:00 Sunday morning they traveled to Evanston about 190 miles from Price Here they performed at an LDS Sacra- ment meeting and then stayed the night But they were up bright and early Monday morning in order to travel another This took 450 miles to Cody them by way of Yellowstone National Park but only the scenery could be enjoyed by CEU's travelers for the park wasn’t open for tourists and they had to press on with their 10 hour drive Tuesday morning wasn’t such a rush The concert was staged at the Junior College at Powell which is only about 50 miles from Cody Then Tuesday afternoon another concert was put on in Byron only 40 more miles The final stop was in Lovell Tuesday evening only 7 miles from Byron Then it was homeward bound by way of the Flaming Gorge picnic and camping grounds This was the final social for the members of this year's choir Professor Frank Postma the choir director selected numbers for the program from just ab Ql I I 1 ft 4 May When the choir took an "intermission" some of the members got a chance to show off some of their special talents For instance there was a solo II an So as you can plainly see the choir worked hard at giving each audience a very special by Ann Forythe and a couple of numbers by a girl's tripletrio consisting of: Linda Huff O show 'i tl A I ( 5 i v Ar l 17 ' i CEU’s College Combo : tr o o performs at an assembly at Byron High School Mustard ard kclciuip flowed like prune juice at a trarlor citizens parly during the choir's clotr" oral a the Flrnaker Reservoir rcc:cr:!rn ar:a -- 1968 Byrd and Carolyn Sel-mfirst sopranos Diana Craig (the new Miss Carbon County) Judith Christensen and Mary Naylor second sopranos Carol an Postma Carrol Pace and Doris Bruno altos More solos were performed by Carol-a- n Postma on her flute and Walt Donaldson with "The Theme From the Apartment” on his trombone The College Combo was along to play some instrumental numbers under the direction of Glen Fifiekl The other members were Mike Bradshaw Walt Donaldson Ron Atwood Terry Atwood and Kraig Christensen Dottie out every variety Numbers ranged from classic church songs (for Sunday night especially) to some jazzy revivals like "For Me and My Gal" and "Moon-glow- ” with whistling guitars and Shawnda Peterson’s solo tap dance in accompaniment There ever were also some Theme "The like types popular From Exodus" “This is the Day" and “Shenandoah” There was even a Negro spiritual or two IV 17 G--- |
