we at Carbon College are proud of our Increased enrollment The Increase in enrollment has been brought about by a number of factors As we all know Carbon has a great academic rating and all the advantages of a junior college but the primary reasons for this increase are Dr and Larry Claude Burtenshaw Regis Dr Burtenshaw’s efforts in behalf of the school are well known and appreciated The efforts of Coach Regis are not quite as open Coach Regis has assembled a team with great potential Hie players come from many states With many of them are luck Carbon could take the ICAC But bad luck has plaqued coach Regis lately Injuries to Carbon’s great quarterback Paul Blaser to Frank Felice Frank Compagni and Charles Travis have undoubtedly hurt the Eagles Monday September 18 saw the Eagles go down in defeat to the Aggies of Ft Lewis in Durango Colorado It was in this game that Blaser injured his shoulder That score was 8 Scoring touchdowns were Blaser from 20 yards out Ron Ross on a 80 yard punt return and Ken Chiodo from 14 yards out Block C Membership to this group' is gained by whining a letter in inMemtercollegiate competition in bers are active supporting activities such as homecoming assemblies and dances all-stat- ers 33-1- C C Phi Theta Kappa Today's Eagle's feather goes to Paul Blaser who tried to help his team in tho Wobor ball game Paul wont into tho game with a sore arm Tho Wildcats know that Paul was sore and made sure that ho didn't stay In tho game long It's funny how 11 good players start to shako when they come up against one groat player Don't think fh Wildcats weren't afraid of Paul oven they know that one man with groat leadership ability can unite a group Into an undestruct-abl- o force and so accomplish groat foats Tho Wildcats are building up Perry Ficklin as tho best quarterback In tho ICAC but take It from mo I've soon both of them Perry is good but ho doesn't hold a candle to Paul Blaser as a football player Known on larger campuses as Phi Beta Kappa members are Students Invited To Join Clubs Social Scholastic Religious Offered Lambda Delta Sigma Over one fourth of the student-bod- y participates in the Lambda Delta Sigma making it the largest fraternity at Carbon Sponsored by the Institute of Religion the advisor is Dean Wengreen New officers are Delvin McFarland men’s president Paul men’s and secretary-treasurGaiy Magnusen Women’s officers Include Venice Powell president Arlene Geraldine Erickson September 23 the Eagles travelled to Weber College In Ogden where they were badly outclassed 35--6 The lone touchdown was scored by Ron Ross from 7 yards out The Carbon College unit at times looked much better than the Weber unit but Carbon lacked CONSISTENCY Tho Eagles looked as if they could push the Wildcats right off tho field but a penalty or an Interception always came along to break the morals It was In those moments of despair that the Wildcats ripped up the Eagles The Eagles played hard until the last second I am sure that the fans of Carbon College football would like nothing better than to have Carbon beat number-one-in-tnation Boise The best way that fans can help the team is to attend this ball game and make lots of noise Bring your noisemakers drums Shield bells your wife etc and cheer loudly for tlie home team he blain day delvin McFarland Ta-bo- vice-preside- ne nt er vice-preside- nt
