Jeffrey Morten sen Wellington Western States Nevin Anderson Huntington Gulf States Dennis Breinholt Price Denmark All were active in COLLEGE GOLDEN EAGLE ctudentbody and social affairs at Carbon Dale Swan not pictured is serving in Hawaii Paul Warner Evanston Wyoming and Larry Hatch Rupert Idaho are also serving on missions Larry Hatch Is serving in the British Mission Reed Warren is serving in the Western Central States Former Carbonite Sculptures Miner Offing Reports Indicate general chairman of the annual Carbon Homecoming and members of his committees started work last June on the annual project and have continued through the summer months to plan and arrange for the largest Homecoming in the history of Carbon College the 1961 event which will be held October 6 and 7 Traditionally this is the largest event on the campus each year and much work has already gone Into the event to insure cooperation between the college the community and the high schools in surrounding areas who are expected to play a prominent part in the success of the undertaking Heads or tne various committees are working on the final details and Mr Orfanakis reports that plans are beginning to student Reed plans a coal of glass to return to Carbon tor one more The sculpture is the work of a year before continuing his school former Carbon College student work in a four-yeschool He is James L Young It was completed majoring in political science and as a master's thesis Mr Young has been attending plans to study law the Brigham Young University majoring in art He is married to the former Patti Brasher of Huntington At the present time the Youngs are living in Corvalis Oregon where Mr Young is teaching art at the Corvalis High School Gala Homecoming in Mike Orfanakis Pago Throo Bank Alan Jensen sophomore has been named editor of the Golden Eagle student newspaper at Carbon College Alan Is a native of Castle Dale He entered college as a freshman last year At mid-yehe accepted the editor’s post when the former editor resigned Alan was prominently identified with high school activities at South Emery High School where he was graduated as an honor student He participated in speech activities in the band and as an officer in the Industrial Arts dub At Carbon College he is affiliated with Lambda Delta Sigma and Intercollegiate Knights He plans to major in Public Relations Drive-I- n Carbon County Airport at the conclusion of the sulnmer sdhool session August 9 The party was sponsored by the Executive Counfor cil to provide a summer school students and prospective students The fun began when students met at the college dressed in army uniforms or old clothes and were loaded into trucks and taken to the drive-i- n to see a war picture Battle Cry Through the cooperation of Joe Santl Drive-I-n manager the group entered the show for one dollar a truck load An area was reserved for them to set up folding chairs and enjoy the show in comfort Following the show the party departed by truck to the old airport where an outside area had been prepared for dancing Over 200 students gathered under the stars to dance to the music of Don Guy’s Orchestra and enjoy refreshments prepared by the Associated Women Students Bob Murphy Carbon student-bod- y president congratulated Gregg McArthur who arranged the party and further noted that the party was one of
