EXECUTED BY MOB ohioans wreak vengeance upon a negro murderer A mob of SOO men gathered at the county jail at springfield ohio mon day night and lynched richard dixon of cynthiana ky a negro who had shot policeman coiling dixon as shot to death in the jail yard after which his body was hung to a telegraph pole and the mob spent a half hour riddling the body with bul lets collins was shot by dixon sun day morning while the latter was in his room in a hotel in springfield re moving his baggage he had decided to quit the place and fearing trouble with anna a woman with whom he was acquainted dixon asked collins to go to the hotel with him while in his room dixon and miss corbin quarreled and dixon la said to have shot her in the breast the policeman then attempted to arrest dixon when the latter fired into the officers body inflicting fatal wounds
