the V vt i deis of the deep captain andiew moon of the schooner dixie filin the west indies reports a aej exciting experience at sea some time after a storm that was supposed to have spent itself a ball ot of fire as large as a barrel he says struck the deck and exploded with the report ot of a twelve inch cannon captain noon was knocked several feet from the wheel and though a man of unusual strength he hedelt felt an lav inv sible force bearing hearing down on aids shoulders and chest that brought him nearly to his knees the flash temporarily blinded the captain some force supposed to be electricity doubled up his hands so that he be could not open them when he was nas able to get forwald he lie found that a colored deckhand dee lhand and other members of the crew were from the shock captain moon who has been on ships struck by II 11 lightning ht ning searched the vessel for evidence ot of a it lightning stroke but found none
