HOW CABBIES GOT FARES ingenious device that deceived guests of banquet it ivae was nearly midnight and the group of cabmen standing outside the banqueting hall were despondent the night was so warm and fine that the guest guests at the banquet would be sure to walk home instead of riding at length one cabman hit on a brilliant idea he ile brought a bucket of from the horse trough and poured it well aver the steps of the hall and the pavement in front of the entrance so that it looked as though there had bad been heavy rain then ne ria took an umbrella and dipped it in the water trough and as the beadle threw open the door tor for the departing guests the ingenious cabman stood in the doorway with his dripping urn um brella A fearful nighal raining cats and dogs eald said one of the guests cabs were in such great de mand that there was not one of them went away without a fare spare moments
