John Gledhill, hospital administrator, explained that non-operating income from grants, donations, and interest kept them ffrom running into the red. Gledhill says the bad times are behind them. “The hospital is set up right now to be the most successful it has ever been,” he de:clared. Now that the facility is back in full operation, the next step is rebuildiing trust in the community. The goal is to provide all medical needs locally, ‘so that it is not necessary to “shop” for services away fromhome. The nursing nome is presently filled to capacity, given the gender mix of patients. Home Health is a service the hospital contributes to the community, even though it does not fully carry itself financially. Plans are underway to take patients on a shorter term basis, even if it is only one day. Such service would benefit post-surgery patients in particular. A software program could simplify what is now three hours of paperwork attached to each Home Health patient.
