Both are Republicans. Doug Carriger, administrative assistant......who may actually running the show......is not an elected official. Expiring terms for other county officials include: Assessor - Max Limb (R); Clerk/Auditor - Paul Barton (D); Treasurer LeeAnn Joseph (R); Recorder - Bruce Brown (D); Sheriff - Ken Yardley (D); County Attorney - Leo Kanell (R).....if have some competition on the ballot. Local judges are: Shad Bradshaw - Beaver; Jetta Davie - Minersville and Normand Thompson - Milford. Like Terms also expire for School Board members Kanell, if they choose to remain in office, they must file for retention. De Armitt that Bielknap Elementary be allowed to pilot a school breakfast program starting at the beginning of the fourth term. This motion was seconded by Gary T. Brown and unanimously passed. Work-Based Learning 5. It was moved by Pat Rimpau that the Board adopt a work-based learning policy presented by Mr. Donald J. Willden. This motion was seconded by Richard L. De Armitt and unanimously passed. USBA Convention 6. Last month, Board members from the Beaver County - School District attended the annual Utah School Boards Association (USBA) convention in Salt Lake City. All of those who attended thought it was a success. The convention was very beneficial to personal and professional growth. It was noted that the convention seemed to concentrate more on the needs of kids. Board members commented that they prefer more breakout sessions as opposed to large group sessions. District Restructuring le Superintendent Henry E. Jolley presented apreliminary district organizational chart to the Board. Dr. Jolley wants to develop an organizational chart that will allow anyone to ~ quickly determine how individuals "fit in" and relate to others in the school district organization. The chart is intended to emphasize a collaborative spirit of cooperation that exists in the district rather than a traditional top down hierarchical structure. Comments and input were given by Board members. Gary T. Brown volunteered to be the Board member representative to help the district refine the organizational process. Maintenance Truck 8. President Robert L. Strong requested that the minutes from the monthly district principals meeting be distributed to members of the Board. Assistant Golf Coach 14. It was moved by Gary T. Brown and seconded by Richard L. De Armitt that Paul Porter be appointed as an assistant golf coach at Beaver High School. This motion was unanimously passed. Teacher's Aide 15. It was moved by Norman L. Lamb and seconded by Richard L. De Anmitt that Tenaly Bleak be hired as a computer lab aide at Milford Elementary School. This motion was unanimously passed. School Accounting 16. Students at both high schools voluntarily donate money to be used for class activities. Occasionally there are monies left over in these student activity funds. Reading scores were singled out as an area of concem. |Superintendent Henry E. Jolley pointed out that the district is employing strategies and programs to help ensure that all children have proficient reading skills. The Superintendent went on to assert that the success of any reading progrann initiated by our schools is greatly enhanced when the child receives support from parents at home.
