education Oral Ballam Bowen School’s will sing The observance will move outdoors at 10:30 am to the construction site west of the Bowen School Architect Ron Simmons of Edwards and Daniels Associates and Abel F Paulsen president of Finn B Paulsen Construction Inc general contractor will make remarks Ceremonial ground breaking will be done by Cazier and other distinguished guests Students from Bowen School will also take up shovels “I’m confident that some of these children will be among the next generation of teachers we educate in this new facility” Ballam said ’It’s appropriate that they pond dart boards and other games All children are invited Prizes will be given to children wearing the best costumes Oldest Aggies to lead parade y The oldest known living graduate of Utah State University and the oldest alumna known will be grand marshalls of the Homecoming Parade this Saturday in Logan They will lead 130 entries in the parade which starts in downtown Logan at 10 am Clara Hyde Turner 96 graduated from the Utah Agricultural College in 1912 with a degree in home economics Mary Bedford Stoddard 98 attended the UAC evenings and summers for seven years getting certified to teach Jut never graduating Mrs Turner taught high school a year at American Fork and four years at Morgan where she still lives She was married to Albert R Turner who died in 1956 Four of their five children attended USU seven of 26 grandchildren graduated from USU and three of 60 have attended two currently She has been active in Extension programs Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the LDS Church She has traveled through most states Europe Japan Hong Kong and Thailand and still does crochet and tatting Mrs Stoddard now lives in Salt Lake City She first taught six school in Cornish She also taught at grades in a Newton and Richmond and in Blue Creek near Tremonton where she and her husband homesteaded a farm She was married to Roscoe Stoddard who died in 1971 They had four children including a daughter who died of cancer and a son killed in World War II There are 20 grandchildren and 45 She has been active with Daughters of Utah Pioneers Gold Star Mothers and the LDS Church She
