Show Richard Kjar Ijar home hit by fire Saturday A destructive fire started at the home of Richard Kjar In Gunnison last Saturday evening evening eve eve- ning while the K jars along with many other Gunnison residents were In Provo cheering their basketball team on to winning victory The fire which started In the basement bedroom left that room In charred blackened emptiness emptiness emptiness em em- burning floor joists In the bedroom above as well as all of the contents of the basement room The billowing black smoke and intense heat left their tell-tale tell marks in all of the seven rooms of the modern modern modern mod mod- ern brick dwelling The fire was reported by four of the Kjar children who fled the burning building to the home of ofa ofa ofa a neighbor to report the fire alter after they were unable to get the fire department Cause of the fire is unknown The ready response of the SaUna Salina Fire Department along with that of the Gunnison Fire Department prevented the fire from spreading beyond the basement The Kjar family expresses their gratitude to the fire de departments departments departments de- de the police and many others who responded so willingly willingly will will- to help at the time of the fire and to the many who have since extended a hand of fellowship fellow ship in assisting with their needs A special thanks to Carol Braithwaite in Manti for telephoning telephoning telephoning tele tele- phoning the grandparents In Ephraim and letting them know about the fire |
