Homer Durham the Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner Com Com- missioner of Higher Education will be the speaker at Friday Forum on November 6 at 1200 noon The title of his talk is Quo Vadis Dr Durham was born in Parowan Par- Par Parowan Parowan owan Iron County Utah He married the former Eudora Widtsoe and they have three married children He received his BA degree In history and political science at the University University University sity of Utah in 1932 In 1939 he received a Ph D D. D degree in political science at the University University University sity of California at Los Angeles As Commissioner of Higher Education he serves as executive executive executive tive officer of the new Utah System of Higher Education created by the Higher Education tion Act of 1969 Prior to this appointment Dr Durham served as president and professor professor professor pro pro- fessor of political science at Arizona State University Dr Durham has served inmany in inmany inmany many capacities to different colleges and organizations He has held many positions in po political political po- po science at Utah State University Swarthmore College College College Col Col- lege and the University of California California Cal Cal- at Los Angeles He is currently serving a year three-year term on the Board of Directors of the American Council on Education He has served in many national services services services ices and in 1964 he received the Army's Outstanding Civilian Service medal In the past Dr Durham has served as a member of the high council in Tempe Maricopa Maricopa Mari Mari- copa and E Emigration migration Stakes At the present he Is serving as a member of the High Council Council Coun Coun- cil at Bonneville Stake Dr Durham is the author compiler editor of numerous books and articles in the fields of public administration education education education edu edu- cation political science and Mormon 4 1 1 G G.
