Show Local residents lauded for pioneer exhibits In order to help celebrate Pioneer month and set the stage for the Mormon Miracle many local business people made an effort to display pioneer relics in their stores These forward- forward looking merchants are to be congratulated as well as the generous people who loaned articles for display according to South Sanpete Stake Guild officials If we begin to plan now for more participation by next year a walk down the business section could be more interesting than visiting a museum Some of those who made such sucha a worthwhile effort in ManU Mantl were the Ladles Ladies Style Shop Keiths Keith's Upholstery Carpenters Carpenter's Carpenters Carpenter's Carpenters Carpenter's Carpen Carpen- ter's who also have a year- year round exhibit and Elliotts Elliott's Pharmacy At Elliotts Elliott's it was proved where theres there's a will theres there's a way and pioneer artifacts were displayed with no floor or window space being needed They also attracted much attention by having the clerks all In costume Also adding to the pioneer spirit of Manti was the covered wagon placed near the Genealogical Genealogical Genealogical Gene Gene- Library which was loaned by R. R Lynn Nielson It was refurbished by Harry Hornung Edwin Carpenter and Vernon Larsen There is a pioneer display in the Genealogical Genealogical Genealogical Gene Gene- Library and for special guests during the Mormon Miracle Miracle Miracle Mir Mir- acle a display was provided at the Information Center on Temple Hill The Public Library had a timely display Christian sen Furniture showed an old- old fashioned baby buggy and the commissary wagon Station was loaned by Kent L. L Anderson At Doyle Larsen's new store there was an Interesting array of Items in the window and and Anderson Drug showed old drug store equipment as well as a portrait of an unidentified person to catch the publics public's eye In Chris Chris- Christensen's Christensen's new merchandise was shown against a backdrop of old items Hems to make a very artistic artistic artis artis- tic display During the celebration some priceless authentic costumes were worn by some local WO women yea tl and girls We would a complete list of these women and the history behind these costumes In trying to compile a list of those of-those those who wore pio plo style neer-style costumes the list became too long and the chance of leaving someone out too great to tackle If you wore costume a at all this year year- please do it even more next year and lets let's encourage everyone to do this It Is surprising how much this adds to the occasion The These s e people mentioned above and the countless ones unmentioned should have our hearty thanks They have shown the way There are many In Interesting Interesting interesting In- In relics and costumes still In our communities Even without a museum we can and should share our history with others |
