Show An AnAN Ordinance AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS THROUGH OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF EPHRAIM CITY OF APRIL 1943 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EPHRAIM That Section through as amended by an ordinance passed December 11 1967 be amended to read as hereinafter added thereto Sections set out and that there be and SECTION TO BE REGISTERED ANNUAL TAX It shall be unlawful for any person to own or keep a dog within the limits of the City of Ephraim during any part of the year without making application to the city recorder for that purpose and shall pay to the city treasurer for the benefit of th the city an annual license tax of 1000 for a female dog and for a spayed female or a male dog dog- for each year or any part thereof Said tax or license shall become due and payable on 00 the 1st day of the first first month of each calendar year during which said dog Is kept within the limits of the city The license Is Increased upon each dog registered after February 1st of each year except for pups born after February 1st of each year and other dogs who enter the city after that time and aDd fee will be cut In half after July 1 on such pups and dogs who enter the city after July 1 of that year Provided that no license fee need be paid on such dogs as are transient and kept with animals being ranged or fed outside the city limits and which shall not be kept within said city for any cumulative period exceeding three weeks in each calendar year SECTION No license shall be issued to any person for any dog male or female except upon proof of a rabies vaccination vaccination vaccination nation within one year from the date of application for license Certificate of vaccination shall be considered sufficient proof for the Issuance of any license SECTION AT LARGE It shall be unlawful for the owner or keeper of any dog to permit said dog to run at large inthe inthe in inthe the city between sunset of any day and the following sunrise SECTION COLLARS AND TAGS All dogs registered shall wear a suitable collar with a metallic or plastic tag i attached thereto having a number corresponding with the certificate of registry inscribed thereon and all dogs not registered and collared as aforesaid shall be liable to be impounded the same as unregistered dogs The marshal is hereby authorized to impound or cause to be impounded all dogs not registered according to the provisions of this article The city recorder shall at the time of payment of the license tag or permit fee issue a registration certificate to the owner or keeper of said dog together with a metallic or plastic tag stamped with an identifying number and with the year of issuance thereon Said tag shall be made so it may conveniently be fastened to a dog collar or harness SECTION PERMITTING IN PLACE OF WORSHIP Any ADy owner or possessor of a dog permitting the same to enter or be in any place of worship during public service shall be guilty of a misdemeanor SECTION DANGEROUS DOGS It shall be unlawful for any person to keep own or posses a fierce dangerous vicious or mischievous dog within the limits of this city The marshal of this city is hereby authorized to impound or cause to be Impounded all fierce dangerous vicious or mischievous dogs found within the limits of this city In of his Ms duty in this regard he is authorized to enter the premises of anyone keeping such fierce dangerous vicious or mischievous dog SECTION PENALTY FOR KILLING REGISTERED DOG It shall be unlawful for any person to kill or cause to be killed or poisoned any dog registered with a collar and license or permit tag attached without the consent of the owner or keeper thereof provided It is lawful for any person to kill a female dog In heat which is at large and lawful for the owner or keeper of domestic animals or fowls to kill a dog or dogs or destroying such property It shall be unlawful for any person to deprive a registered dog of its collar or put a registered tag on any dog not reg reg- SECTION MAYOR MAY PROHIBIT FROM RUNNING AT LARGE The mayor may upon reasonable apprehension of danger from mad or rabid dogs Issue a proclamation forbidding dogs of every description from running at large and after such proclamation shall shaU have been issued twenty-four twenty hours any dog or bitch found running at large In the city except the same be securely muzzled may be slain by any person SECTION REGULATIONS FOR OWNERS OR KEEPERS OF DOGS The city recorder shall deliver to the person paying or keeping a dog at the time the annual license or permit tax Is paid or shall send by mall mail to such person notice containing contain contain- ing the following four provisions which shall be effective 1 That it Is unlawful to permit any dog to run at large between sundown of one day and the following sunrise 2 That all dogs and pups over three months old shall wear weara a collar or harness to which Is attached a current license tag 3 That any female dog In heat running at large or any dog harassing or destroying domestic animals or fowls may be summarily impounded R 4 Every female dog In heat shall be confined In a building or secure enclosure in such a manner that the female cannot come Into contact with another animal except for planned breeding Failure to comply with confinement of a female In heat is a misdemeanor and may result in impounding of said bitch No owner of such female dog thus confined may kill any m male e dog attracted to such a place of confinement on owners owner's property SECTION IMPOUNDING DC DOGS The city marshal and his deputies are hereby authorized and directed to impound any and all dogs not licensed and then to authorize the pound keeper to safely keep them f for r a period of 3 days thereafter hereafter It shall be lawful for said officers to use a tranquilizing gun on said animals for the purpose of gaining possession or impounding the same SECTION It shall be unlawful for any
